Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and coordinate medical appointments while verifying patient eligibility for services.
- Communicate essential instructions to patients or direct them to the appropriate departments for further assistance.
- Update and maintain patient medical records with precision, ensuring all information is accurate and current.
- Research and organize patient information to support healthcare providers in their duties.
- Guarantee the availability of all medical records prior to scheduled appointments.
- Retrieve and manage patient medical records as required.
- Obtain necessary documentation, including test results, for healthcare providers.
- Provide general clerical support to facilitate medical and operational functions.
- Create and maintain appointment schedules and templates within the patient management system.
- Complete end-of-day processes to address pending appointments or issues in the system.
- Access the Health Information Exchange (HIE) to promote efficient data sharing in accordance with contractual requirements.
Required Skills
- Familiarity with medical laws, terminology, and ethical standards.
- Typing proficiency of at least 50 words per minute.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite (including Outlook and Excel) and effective internet navigation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, complemented by superior customer service and telephone etiquette.
- Knowledge of fundamental office administrative tasks and receptionist duties.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is required; coursework in medical terminology is preferred.
- A minimum of 6 months of experience in an office environment, preferably in a medical setting.
